Chaplain (Reverend) JoAnne Nelson, J.D., MDiv, BCC.

A native of Oxford, MS, JoAnne Nelson is an ordained minister in the Missionary Baptist and Interdenominational faith traditions. She is also a board-certified chaplain with the National Association of Veteran Affairs Chaplains and endorsed by the Coalition of Spirit-filled Churches. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Mississippi, minoring in Psychology and English at the age of 19. She received a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law. She also completed her seminary studies at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, GA, receiving a Master of Divinity. JoAnne, a member of the Mississippi Bar, is also admitted to practice law before the Supreme Court of the United States of America. She currently serves as a chaplain and elder in her church and also as Chief, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion/EEO Manager at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA in Jackson, MS. JoAnne enjoys reading and spending time outdoors.
